Scandikitchen | Swedish Crispy Waffles (frasvåfflor)
Santa was very kind this year and got me a waffle maker. This now means that every Sunday, until I die of a clogged arteries, I will be making these little gems for me and my other half.
Here is a great recipe I recommend. The batter itself doesn't use any sugar or eggs so they aren't too sweet to start with or heavy, meaning you can dollop as much jam and cream as you want.... HURRAH.
Tip: make sure your waffle iron is pre-heated enough before using. I recommend to switch it on before you start making your batter.
150G Unsalted Butter
300g Plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
250ml whole milk
Jam for serving
Fresh cream for serving
Melt the butter in a pan and add all of the ingredients together, making sure there are no lumps. I recommend using a danish whisk (no electric) and great to break through thick dough. Once the mixture is smooth, pour a serving using a ladle on the pre-heated iron. Wait for 8 minutes until the waffle is crips and golden brown.
Don't add too little mixture as the iron won't be able to cook it, and too much will make them overflow.
